The most common kite spots in Joensuu (summer)

Linnulahtimarina booths. More familiarly, LL or booths. Works best between west and northwest. approx. 220-280 degrees. Linnulahti is good for flying a kite and there is a quite large grass field for kite raising/landing and general practice. When going to the water, however, the channel is narrow and there is a risk of the kite hitting trees/rocks. You have to know how to leave the beach with a body cruiser/immediately upwind, so LL is not suitable for beginners.

Noljaka's boat beach(next to aavaranta) more familiarly pumppaamo, gb aka golden beach. Works best in a south-southwest wind. approx. 160-220 degrees. An ok lifting place for a kite on the grass. The pumping station has a cove where the water is always relatively shallow and is therefore well suited for training. The biggest hazards at the pumping station are a couple of trees and vegetation on the way from the launch site to the water. From time to time you may also find fishermen's nets/traps, so you should pay attention to these.

Lautasuo beach- Lautasuo works in the east-southeast wind. Lautasuo's starting area is not very large, but relatively easy to launch. The board swamp has a suitable wading depth and is excellent for practicing the sport. There is a parking lot and a swing on the beach. In summer there may be swimmers and we try to stay as far away from them as possible. Here too, there are often nets in the water.

Veneranta(next to the plate swamp) When the wind gets between the plate swamp and the pumping station. A good size wave.

Häikännimii.e. Häikka. Häikka works on the north-east wind axis. Sometimes a nice-sized wave comes to the beach and behind the breakwater there is a "flättialas"
In Häikä, it's nice to have a friend to help raise and lower the kite. You can do it alone, but you should be careful because the beach is full of pebbles and, for example, the annual midsummer bonfire can also be found there, so the kite/strings can easily break.

Vierevänniemi.Vierevä works in the northwest wind and is accurate in the direction of the wind. approx. 270-295 degrees. There is a sandy beach and the easiest way to start from the adjacent one is to walk to the shallows first. (drift launch) There is shallow water and the setting on the beach is otherwise excellent. Roads rarely cross paths. Vierevä is the author's absolute favorite in summer.

If there are other groups/enthusiasts on the beach. It is polite to braid the lines around the boom during the break. This also avoids damage.
